Health Tip: Know the Risk Factors for Osteoporosis

(HealthDay News) -- Osteoporosis occurs when bones become thin and brittle, increasing the risk for fractures.


The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention mentions these risk factors for osteoporosis:



  • Being a postmenopausal woman.

  • Being white.

  • Being an older adult.

  • Having a small frame.

  • Getting insufficient dietary calcium.

  • Getting insufficient exercise.
