Health Tip: Sleep More Comfortably With a CPAP Mask

(HealthDay News) -- A CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) machine can help you sleep safer with sleep apnea, but adjusting to its mask can be difficult.


The National Sleep Foundation recommends:



  • Take note of any sleep improvements you've seen since beginning CPAP treatment.

  • If the mask makes you feel claustrophobic, try desensitization training, in which you slowly become more accustomed to the mask while you are awake.

  • Ensure that your mask is as comfortable as possible.

  • Use heated humidification or a doctor-recommended nasal drug to help ease nasal congestion.
