(HealthDay News) -- If you want to keep your teeth healthy and help prevent tooth decay, chewing sugar-free gum may be a good place to start.
The Mouthhealthy.org website suggests how to choose a sugar-free gum:
- Look for a sugarless gum with the American Dental Association Seal.
- Choose gum that contains aspartame, sorbitol, mannitol or xylitol, which are sweeteners that don't cause cavities.
- Don't let gum replace basic dental hygiene, such as regular brushing and flossing.
