Health Tip: Caring for Foot Arthritis

(HealthDay News) -- The pain and stiffness of arthritis, America's leading cause of disability, can be a real pain in the foot.


The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons suggests these non-surgical options for foot arthritis:



  • Take anti-inflammatory medication to ease swelling and pain.

  • Use arch supports, pads or shoe inserts.

  • Use custom-made shoes.

  • Use a cane or brace.

  • Get exercise, including physical therapy.

  • Lose any excess weight.
